Crankbaits for pike can be very diverse, as long as their game attracts a toothy predator.
You can make a wobbler with your own hands from many materials; it is not at all necessary to buy something in the store for this. Many fisher-craftsmen make such baits from improvised means.
Most homemade products do an excellent job with this task, but they have both pluses and minuses.

Materials for production
Self-made wobblers are made mainly of several types of materials, but craftsmen, if desired, can adapt to this business almost everything that comes handy. The main thing is to have a set of tools and very few skills to work with this or that material.
The bait will turn out perceptible if a piece of the soul is embedded in it. Each master, working, puts his part in the product, but what material to choose is up to him alone. At the first production, it is desirable to prepare theoretically, and then work to be carried out under the supervision of a more experienced comrade.
Tree
Most often, homemade wobblers are made of wood, for this it is not necessary to be a joiner. Certain skills at the master may be absent altogether, the skill will come with time.
It is on a wooden homemade wobbler you can work out all the necessary elements, because such a material perfectly lends itself to processing with almost any tools.
Wood is most often used by craftsmen:
- limes;
- ate;
- acacia.
Some craftsmen adapt an old balsa float to make a wobbler.
Styrofoam
This material is most often used for the manufacture of two-and three-part wobblers. In the process of processing part of the bait and fasten easier, and paint, and add, if necessary, weights. In addition to composite wobblers, they also make poppers from foam plastic.
Foam rubber
This material is very simple in processing, but also a wobbler on a pike can be made quite light from it. Additionally, such baits are equipped with noise capsules and weights or magnetic systems.
Plastic
Plastic wobblers are the most durable, they do not need to be further treated with paints and varnishes, they do not get water, they do not begin to rot without drying.
The simplest example of a wobbler of this type is a product made from the handle of an old toothbrush, and the lure can even be made by a teenager.
Adhesive mixture
From pencils for glue guns, you can also make catchable cranks. It is enough just to melt the substance and pour it into a pre-prepared form. It is advisable to immediately install fasteners for hooks and noise capsules, as with further processing the workpiece is very easy to spoil.
Of these materials, the billet itself is most often produced, which will then have to become a wobbler. As a self-made addition to it is a shovel that regulates the depth of immersion of the fish. It is cut from plexiglas or modern polycarbonate.
Fitting selection
In addition to cutting and planing the body of a wobbler for catchability, you must be able to equip it properly.
Accessories for homemade wobblers should be:

- not overly heavy product itself.
Therefore, if only that homemade do not cling. Preliminary wooden rings are screwed into wooden, foam rubber, foam blanks. It is to them through the winding ring that the tees are already attached.

Hooks
In very rare cases, a wobbler is equipped with a single, fixed-hook hook, this is typical only for Croatian eggs. The rest of homemade products usually have two or three sharp tees on their bodies.
It is not necessary to save on hooks and take the cheapest, it is better to spend money and buy products of good quality from a well-known brand, then the fish can be caught immediately.

Painting
Products made of wood, metal and foam, it is desirable to paint, in this way it will be possible to close most of the pores through which water will flow into the material. Unpainted material will quickly become worthless, start to rot and just disintegrate.
Painting is carried out in several visits:
- pre-sand and clean problem areas;
- then the product must be degreased;
- the next step is to apply the base;
- painting is carried out in several approaches in order to qualitatively cover the product;
- the final stage will be varnish.
You can’t skip stages or change places, otherwise you’ll fail to achieve the desired result.
Tip! Some simply degrease the surface, and then paint it with spray paint, but after drying, the product should still be covered with a protective layer.
Completely dried after painting, the wobbler is wiped with a cloth and washed in a mild soap solution. Give completely dry and go fishing.
Application
Self-made baits are used on almost any reservoir, they are attached to the base through a leash, and standard tackle is used.
Wiring should be tried for each product individually:
- for wooden crank any wiring is suitable;
- Foam rubber is used when fishing for “demolition”;
- Foam caught in the grass and between the water lilies.
But besides the material itself, it is worth paying attention to the accessories, the usual tee in the grass will immediately become confused.
