Members of the sturgeon gang sentenced

The Komsomol district court of Khabarovsk region has pronounced a sentence on criminal case concerning the former police officers and two local residents.

In the Khabarovsk region sentenced the organizer and the participants of the criminal group engaged in illegal mining, storage and transportation of sturgeon and Kaluga.

They were found guilty of committing a crime under part 3 of article 258.1 of the criminal code (illegal production, purchase, storage and transportation of parts and derivatives of aquatic biological resources, belonging to the species listed in the Red book of the Russian Federation and protected by the international treaties of the Russian Federation, committed by an organized criminal group).

The court found that the police had organized illegal extraction of sturgeon in the Amur river near the village of NOVOIL’inovka. On the territory of his home country of the attacker staged a workshop where illegal catches are processed and stored.

In June of last year the organizer was detained for the carriage of fish and caviar. Then the house where lived the members of the group, seized 308 fragments of sturgeon and Kaluga, as well as more than 100 liters of caviar.

The damage from illegal activities has exceeded 5.5 million.

For compensation of material harm to the arrest of the truck Kia Bongo, the boat “Amur-3” and motorboat “Shaman 580”.

The court sentenced the organizer of group to 3 years 6 months imprisonment. The other two poachers got 1 year and 1 year and 6 months, respectively. Provided that sentences of the poachers will be in the correctional colony of General regime. Verdict in force has not entered.

In relation of two more participants of criminal group criminal case is allocated in separate manufacture.

The reason – the conclusion of a pretrial cooperation agreement. These cases are still under consideration.
