Universal along the length of the tail rod does not exist. However, some fishermen believe that a long rod is better than a short, because short can be obtained removing the lower section with a long.
But it is unlikely that this method is applicable if it is necessary to remove more than one section.
The fact is that for the best balance of the wall of the middle and upper sections of the long rods can be thinner (and hence weaker) than the same sections of shorter rods, because long rods these sections can fully withstand dynamic loads only in conjunction with the lower sections.
The length of the rod
The length of the flight feathers of the rod – the most important characteristic since it determines both minimum and maximum distance fishing. The minimum distance can be substantially less than the length of the rod, as in this case, it is impossible to manage the snap and to make timely cutting. And the maximum distance of fishing cannot be more than the sum of the lengths of fishing rods and equipment, net depth in the point of fishing. As well as the length of the snap-in may not be substantially greater than the length of the rod (otherwise you may have issues with her cast), then we can say that the maximum distance of the fishing is double the length of the rod minus the depth at the point of fishing (Fig. 1).
On the other hand, we must bear in mind that increasing the length of the rod, ceteris paribus, accompanied by increases in weight exponentially, because, in fact, is the addition of a lower section of larger diameter (and sometimes with thicker walls), so obviously more severe than the previous section.
The length of the flight feathers of the rod can be divided into three groups: short – length up to 4m, medium – length 5-8m long – the length of 9m or more.
Short rods (the distance of the crystals of 2-6m, depending on the length of the rod and the depth of the point of fishing) fishermen-fans are rarely used and then mostly when fishing from boats and from the shore, except in some exclusive local conditions (e.g., bridges). But they are widely used by athletes for high-speed catching small fish in the coastal zone and the kids, are attached to fishing.
The rod is medium length (distance of fishing from 5 to 13m, depending on the length of the rod and the depth of point s) in a certain sense the most versatile and balanced in length and weight class of rods, and therefore the most popular among fans. According to sales statistics, the greatest demand is the rod length of 5-6meters.
These can be explained by several reasons:
- firstly, these rods you can still cast snap-in, swoop down (on the side), which significantly reduces the requirements for setting on the banks (presence of reeds, bushes, trees, etc.);
- second, the weight and balance of these rods even in the budget option (at least many of them) still allows to conduct intensive fishing, not using the racks;
- thirdly, it is a solid distance of fishing (up to 8-10m), which is still possible to accurately throw the bait arm;
- fourth, it is the distance which is still quite clearly visible floats with thin antennas.
Long rods (distance of fishing, depending on the length of the rod and the depth in the point of fishing, up to 20m) are intended for catching of large fish on large reservoirs.
As fans of float fishing interests, mainly the result of fishing, not the method, these rods they do not enjoy special popularity because in many cases at distances more than 10-15 m easier to catch “lapdog” or “match” for several reasons:
- first, the Bolognese or match rods have significantly less stringent requirements for setting on the banks than the long flight feathers of the rod;
- secondly, the cost is quite decent Bolognese or match rods together with the coil commensurate with the cost of even a decent penalty “Maha”, not to mention longer;
- third, if the rod length of 9m in the free market you can still find, with the search for the ten “Maha” can cause serious problems, not to mention longer rods.
If the fisherman is not tied to any specific terms, his “gentleman’s” set of primaries may be, for example, thus: two rods with a length of 5-6m and 7- 8m , respectively. If necessary, you can add one short rod length 3-4m.
The weight and balance of the rod
If the rod is supposed to be used with the active nibble, then it mostly will have to hold. In this case, the weight and balance of the rod are of great importance – the day the “stroke” so nameless… So choosing the rod of a few, it is desirable to hold each of them assembled in his hands. It may be that somewhat more difficult by the characteristics of the rod even easier to operate due to the fact that it is better balanced. Test rods
Sometimes the flight feathers of the rods indicated test. But in fact these rods, this test is irrelevant – flight snap is so light that the rod test is not required. The design of the rod
Structurally flapping the rod may be filled with the telescopic and plug. The plug rods are typically made of natural materials: walnut, bamboo, cane. The greater the modulus of elasticity of the material, the material is stiffer and stronger in bending. Consequently, the walls of the rod of the more high-modulus material can be made thinner, and the rod will be easier without loss of bending strength. Therefore, rods of glass fiber is more severe than a similar rod made of composite (a mixture of fibreglass and carbon fibre in varying proportions), and these, in turn, is more severe than rod of carbon fiber (synonyms: carbon fiber, graphite, carbon). And graphite can also be more or less high modulus. It is important that the thinner the wall of the rod, so they are more fragile and are more afraid of hitting solid objects.
The tip of the rod (upper knee) may be solid, hollow and hybrid. One-piece tip with a soft, well-he extinguishes jerks of fish during playing, and enables you to throw more light snap. Hollow tip the most hard, which ensures fast cutting. Hybrid the tip midway between the first two in the top of it one piece, and the bottom hollow. The diameter of the tip may be different. Ceteris paribus, the thinner the tip, the softer.
Sometimes the tip of the rod may be equipped with a connector in the form of a metal ring for attaching the fishing line. In this case, the fishing line can be fastened to the ring, for example, by means of a fastener. If there’s no ring, then to the tip yourself fit mesh, either wire or thick fishing line or glued with superglue to fit a Tulip or a special connector (photo 2). In the latter case, on the line fit the loop, which is put into the connector.

You know, the thinner the layer of glue the stronger the bonding. Therefore, the connectors are the size and the diameter of the tip, as a rule, indicated in the characteristics of the rod. As not in all settlements there are shops with sufficient range of fishing products, often the rod, and the connector have to be ordered at the online store with delivery by mail. While it may be that the connector is a bit large (he needs to put on the tip easily without tightness, but not to klabat on it). In this case, you can do the following: a) wound on the tip a few turns of thin thread; b) to cut off 5-10mm of the tip. If the connector is small, it is better to order a new larger size.
Stroy rods
Stroy is determined by the specifics of the centrifugal fishing for a quick trip in the far distance the rod has to quickly pick up the slack of the fishing line to the float. Therefore, the rod should be sufficiently rigid and at the same time a good “knit” the fish during playing. Because most fly rods of medium length to a greater or lesser extent, medium-fast action, that is, when bent, mostly the upper third of the blank. Such a system for these rods is considered to be universal. The fast action rods bend just the tip.
Short rods have a length of fishing line to float a small and, to the cutting, figuratively speaking, take your head the same bleak, it is better if the rod will slow down (bend from the middle blank). Also the slow build, usually have a rod of fiberglass. This is because the rods and so is not easy, and if you make them more rigid (that is, to make the walls thicker), they will be even harder.

In the first knee of the rod to apply a special motoviltse (photo 3). It is useful in the case when you have to lay down the rod without removing snap-ins (for example, to switch on the overgrown Bank at a different location). But for permanent storage-motoviltse not good, because the high probability of damage to the float even when the rod is in the case.
