Collect spinning: workshop

First of all, note three significant, from my point of view, the moment. First, we consider the Assembly of the rod almost exclusively from the point of view of practice, without justification, for example, principles of arrangement of the rings.

Secondly, we will focus only on the most General, basic collection techniques, it is sufficient, however, to purchase first independent experience. Finally, many of these collection techniques are not only possible – it’s just the author doing so, but that does not mean that other ways exist.

For Assembly of the rod, in addition to Blanca, you will need: rear handle; reel seat; a mandrel (insertion) to install the reel seat; front handle; vinyl ring that goes in the place of “exit” Blanca from the handle; choke ring including a Tulip; the stub inboard of the rear end of the handle. All of these elements of the rod must naturally match each other in size and to be properly matched.

List of required materials is noticeably shorter: two-component epoxy adhesive with time before the start of the “seizure” for at least 15 minutes; thread for primocki of the rings, the composition for coating the windings of the rings and the blank. Of the tools you will need a round file for sharpening sticks; sandpaper of different grits, preferably on cloth; with a small sharp knife, for example, stationery. Finally, it is highly desirable to collect the rod for a certain reel. If all of this is available, you can start.

Search for “seam”

In manufacturing technology, almost any form has rigidity line, or “seam”. In English it is called “spine” (spine), or “backbone” (ridge). If a bending load is applied from the side seam, then the form is showing the greatest resilience; if on the side opposite the seam, – the greatest flexibility. In other words, in one direction – in the direction of the seam as the blank to bend more difficult than any other. How difficult depends on the characteristics of a particular model form.
Usually for spinning rods, spinning reels under the ring put on the opposite seam side, and on the rods under baitcasting reel, on the contrary, along the seam. In both cases, the calculation is made for the maximum utilization of the cushioning Blanca, just spinning gear is bottom coil, and the VAPE is top. But the seam is in both cases located on the upper side of the rod opposite to that from which it loads the scaffold. However, if you want to achieve from Blanca maximum resistance vyvazhivanii the fish on the rod under the spinning reels of the ring should be put on the seam, and Moldova – opposite the seam side.

Ways in which you can find a seam, there are several. That is probably the easiest and most common:

1. Keeping one hand on the butt end Blanca, resting its top on a firm, level and smooth surface so that the blank was at an angle thereto.

2. Slowly rotating the blank holding hand, other hand to pin down the form in the middle part so that it is slightly bent.

Turning the blank on its axis 2-3 times, you can feel the position in which it flexes under load easier – the seam is underneath, and what has the greatest resistance – seam top. Found suture, or opposite side, mark the longitudinal marking (marker, narrow strip of tape, etc.).

Search seam this way in the vertex knee any difficulties usually is, which is not true of butt lap powerful forms. In this case, there are two ways:

Ignore the location of the bead at all – nothing really terrible will happen.
Inspect the side of the knee. Most likely, you will be able to notice the unevenness of the wall thickness Blanca: the seam is usually where the most of it.

The selection of elements of the handle

The length of the back of the handle is determined, of course, personal preference. However, you should remember to tackle was well balanced, rear handle should be at least a certain length. In principle, the concept of “balance gear” is not strict – a lot of it individually, but it is generally believed that the tackle is balanced, if when you installed the coil – in our case spinning is the point of equilibrium of the rod is at the level of the front rim of the spool. Oddly enough, coil weight and geometry Blanca relatively little impact on the balance sheet of the gear, of course, if they generally match each other. But the length of the back of the handle affects the balance very much. As practice shows, the preferred ratio of length of the rod and the length of the rear of the handle about the following:

In contrast to the rear handle, front length – a matter solely of taste: anything, it is not significantly affected.

The reel seat it is desirable to use a minimal size, but sufficient at least to stand in a blank in the place that is scheduled by the assembler. A number indicating the size of the reel seat, is its external diameter in millimetres. It would not make sense to put, say, “stick” easy class holder 18 rooms. Although in this case the possible options related to personal preferences: for example, under a large brush you can put the reel seat somewhat oversized even on a light rod.

Assembly of the handle

The handle can be recruited from the cork rings, but for the beginning it is better to use ready, though, because make a good of a handle will require some additional tools and equipment. To install the reel seat is acceptable, of course, use home-insert-reeling or fill the clearance between the blank-holder with epoxy, but it is better to take specially designed for this purpose mandrels (arbors in English) . They are inexpensive, and their adjustment is not complicated.

Before Assembly, need to counterbore the inside of the cork parts of the handle holes in the form and insert for the reel seat. For this purpose there are special devices, the so-called reamers (“reamer” English scan): segments forms different taper coated with the abrasive. Reamer you can make one yourself by gluing the spiral to the section of the old form of a narrow strip of fairly coarse sandpaper.

If we are talking about building one rod, you probably spend money on the purchase of reamers or the time to produce their own is not very advisable. It is possible to do a fairly coarse round file. Moreover, even with a set of reamers, it is likely that the file is still required, since the taper different forms may vary significantly, and final finishing is still required. In bore holes of a round file, a perfect tapered hole that strictly follows the geometry of the blank, is unlikely to succeed, but it is not critical, although a strong deviation to prevent too.

For boring the inner hole in the cork parts and panels you can use the following technique :

– Put rascacielo detail on the edge of the table and insert the file into the hole
– Started to work with a file and hand rolling presses the item on the table, trying to keep all the movements were as uniform as possible
– Once the handle will be in a position, on which to roll it, working at the same time, a file will become uncomfortable, return to the starting position and repeat all over again

Rastoci holes on the balsa parts and panels so that they are tight but no special efforts were falling into place, note on the form the position of the front edge of the handle and quite easily, without damaging the structure Blanca, sanded the surface from the mark to the butt end.

Now you can collect the handle. Nothing complicated in there, but need to make sure that the reel seat was properly placed in relation to the seam on the inboard knee, of course, if the position of the seam was generally decided to consider. Assembly sequence is: rear handle – bars under the reel seat – reel seat – front handle – mounting mark (ring).

For installation you can use either a specialized epoxy adhesives, such as U-40 Rod Bond, Flex Coat Rodbuilder”s Glue or any other epoxy, which is the time until the start of polymerization is not less than 15 minutes, but can be more, up to half an hour.

More “Bystrovskaya” options for Assembly are not well suited due to too small time to grasp. A thin layer of glue is applied to the form. Components of the handle are brought to their place a slow twisting motion to the adhesive more uniformly distributed throughout the bonded surfaces. The reel seat is put on your bars also on glue. The last part of the installation is chosen by the diameter of the vinyl ring (winding check) – any functional load does not bear, but hides the possible flaws made in bore holes in the front of the cork part of the handle.
